Now that Florida is once again free to protect unborn lives, we need to make our voice heard now more than ever. Our opposition has been very active lately and has received a great deal of news coverage. Overturning a Supreme Court decision was certainly a positive step. But we still need to "overturn" public opinion about the value of human life. Here is how to get involved, and it requires only one hour! And there are more ways to help the unborn and mothers; see "Pro-Life Links" in the menu above.
What is a Life Chain?
The LIFE CHAIN is a peaceful, prayerful public witness of pro-life Americans standing in honor of 58 million innocent human lives lost to abortion. The Life Chain is an opportunity to pray for our nation, for people in crisis situations, and for an end to the killing of unborn babies. The Life Chain is a visual statement of solidarity, organized by the Christian community (though everyone is welcome) that abortion kills children, and that the Church upholds the sanctity of human life from conception to natural death.
The annual Life Chain of Melbourne/Palm Bay/Southern Brevard County, Florida, will take place on Sunday, October 4, 2026, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. The Life Chain committee will supply signs for everyone to hold for this one special hour. Hundreds of defenders of human life are invited to gather at one of four designated intersections through which large numbers of motorists pass. We will silently, prayerfully, and peacefully increase public awareness of the innocent unborn babies and to support their mothers.
Note that we are no longer organizing a single 5-mile Life Chain every year. For several years, up until 2022, our awesome team of pro-life advocates produced the longest Life Chain in Florida, and possibly the entire USA. So we achieved the "bragging rights" - OK, been there, done that.
However, the Lord does not want us to boast, He wants us to serve. And most of the feedback for the "multiple chains" method that we have tried in the past couple of years has been positive, despite the inclement weather. In fact, we have fragmented the Life Chain into so many smaller segments that much of the feedback has moved back toward a goal of more unity among our participants.
Our monthly Life Chains at Pineda & Wickham Rd. have convinced your humble organizer that busy intersections are the best places to stand in order to get our pro-life messages out to large numbers. We need to meet people where *they* are at, not necessarily where *we* are at.
So, this year I have made an "executive decision" -- designate *four* major busy intersections in southern Brevard County. This way we can maximize our exposure, and display considerable unity among out pro-life team, yet reduce, at least to some degree, the driving distance for participants to get to and from the Life Chain. This amounts to a compromise between the one-big-long-chain and the in-front-of-every-church crowds. In addition, it makes sign distribution more efficient. And in the event we are blessed with one or two videographers this year, each will have time during our one hour to record videos of each of the four groups.
This plan may not satisfy everyone, but the advantages should outweigh the disadvantages.

- W. New Haven (192) & Evans/Hollywood (Melbourne Square Mall)
- Pineda & Wickham Rd. (Wawa / CVS)
- Palm Bay Rd. & Babcock St. (Chilis / Cumberland Farms)
- Eau Gallie Blvd. & A1A (Wal-Mart / Canova Park)
This plan may not satisfy everyone, but the advantages should outweigh the disadvantages.
What is our Pro-Life Message?
The Life Chain team supplies plenty of signs with the following messages to thousands of passers-by:
Some of these messages may sound harsh, but as we know, abortion is a serious matter, and it does indeed kill children. We also request that the "Jesus Forgives and Heals" signs be reserved for clergy.
- Abortion Kills Children
- Adoption, the Loving Option
- Jesus Forgives & Heals
- El Aborto Mata Niños
- Pray to End Abortion
- Life - The First Inalienable Right
- Pregnant? Need Help? 800-712-HELP
- ...and more!

What is *not* a Life Chain?
The LIFE CHAIN is not a "March for Life". These are huge and very uplifting events held every January near the anniversary of the infamous Supreme Court decision that took away the right to life of innocent unborn babies. In 2026, Washington, D.C. will hold the largest of these Marches, as do many states, which, if plans go well, will include Florida. All Pro-Life people are encouraged to attend these Marches, as they greatly energize everyone involved with the Pro-Life cause. Here are the links:
March for Life, Washington, DC, January 23, 2026
March for Life, Jacksonville, Florida, January 17, 2026

The LIFE CHAIN is also not a "Walk for Life". These are fundraising events organized by various pregnancy care centers that raise much-needed donations to help babies and mothers.
