Now that Florida is once again free to protect unborn lives, we need to make our voice heard now more than ever. Our opposition has been very active lately and has received a great deal of news coverage. Overturning a Supreme Court decision was certainly a positive step. But we still need to "overturn" public opinion about the value of human life.
What is a Life Chain?
The LIFE CHAIN is a peaceful, prayerful public witness of pro-life Americans standing in honor of 57 million innocent human lives lost to abortion. The Life Chain is an opportunity to pray for our nation, for people in crisis situations, and for an end to the killing of unborn babies. The Life Chain is a visual statement of solidarity, organized by the Christian community (though everyone is welcome) that abortion kills children, and that the Church upholds the sanctity of human life from conception to natural death.
The annual Life Chain of Melbourne, Florida, is planned for Sunday, October 8, 2023, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. The Life Chain committee will supply signs for everyone to hold for this one special hour. Hundreds of defenders of human life will be gathered in various locations (usually in front of participating churches) around Melbourne, Palm Bay, West Melbourne, Satellite Beach, and other parts of southern Brevard County, Florida. We will silently, prayerfully, and peacefully increase public awareness of the innocent unborn babies and to support their mothers.
Note that we will not be organizing a single 5-mile Life Chain this year. The past few years have produced the longest Life Chain in Florida, and possibly the entire USA. So we achieved the "bragging rights" - OK, been there, done that.
However, the Lord does not want us to boast, He wants us to serve. So we will be organizing multiple Life Chains throughout our metropolitan area, mostly in front of participating churches, or along nearby major thoroughfares. This way, we feel that (1) more people will participate -- not having to drive as far and (2) more passers-by will view our life-affirming messages -- not just those driving along US 192 (Strawbridge/New Haven Ave.) but US 1, Palm Bay Rd., A1A, Wickham/Minton Rd. etc.

What is our Pro-Life Message?
The Life Chain team will have plenty of signs on hand with the following messages to thousands of passers-by:
Some of these messages may sound harsh, but as we know, abortion is a serious matter, and it does indeed kill children. We also request that the "Jesus Forgives and Heals" signs be reserved for clergy.
- Abortion Kills Children
- Adoption, the Loving Option
- Jesus Forgives & Heals
- El Aborto Mata Niños
- Pray to End Abortion
- Life - The First Inalienable Right
- Pregnant? Need Help? 800-712-HELP

What is *not* a Life Chain?
The LIFE CHAIN is not a "March for Life". These are huge and very uplifting events held every January near the anniversary of the infamous Supreme Court decision that took away the right to life of innocent unborn babies. Washington, D.C. holds the largest of these Marches, as does (closer to home) St. Augustine, Florida. All Pro-Life people are encouraged to attend these Marches, as they greatly energize everyone involved with the the Pro-Life cause. Here are the links:
March for Life, Washington, DC, January 19, 2024
March for Life, Tallahassee, FL, January 13, 2024 (link available soon)

The LIFE CHAIN is also not a "Walk for Life". These are fundraising events organized by various pregnancy care centers that raise much-needed donations to help babies and mothers.
